problem with mobile data

hello

I just received my Shiftphone 8 after more than a year and a half of waiting, and I’m facing an issue: although the 3G/4G icon is visible, I cannot use the internet via mobile data. Wi-Fi works fine, but outside of Wi-Fi, no apps can connect.

I’ve never had any issues with mobile data on my previous smartphones.

However, when I use an eSIM, I can browse normally in certain areas.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with the Shiftphone 8? Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

The problem has already been described here: https://forum.shiftphones.com/threads/mobile-daten-nur-3g-shift-8.5913/#post-63957 I was able to help mitigate the problem by at least making it possible to switch on 2 G each time you leave Wi-Fi and enter mobile data and then switch on 4 G again. Of course, this is not the biggest hit, but at least it works. Be sure to write to support again and refer to this and the other thread so that this bug is given a higher priority or is taken into account at all (no idea whether the other user has reported this to support).

But here are the fixes that have improved the problem:
  1. Checking that the correct APNs are set: https://forum.shiftphones.com/threads/mobile-daten-nur-3g-shift-8.5913/#post-64077
  2. In the phone app, enter *#*#4636#*#*, tap on Phone information. Select NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA from the "Set preferred network type" drop-down menu and restart the smartphone.
  3. Add APN "internet": https://forum.shiftphones.com/threads/shiftphone_8-sos-7-0-l-20250528.5825/page-4#post-62493

Thank you again for your help and the instructions you provided. I’ve followed your advice carefully, but unfortunately, the problem is still the same.
 
recently discovered that my mobile data works whenen I select "3G only," but when I choose "4G only" or "3G/4G/5G" (which is what I normally use), it doesn’t work.


Yes, my smartphone is up to date, and the APN settings are correctly configured. People living under the same roof as me are using the same operator, and their connections work fine. Even my previous smartphones, including one that’s almost 10 years old, were able to connect to 4G. However, with this Shiftphone, it’s now impossible to use 4G in areas where I could access it before.I hope this issue will be resolved soon.
 
Heads up.

I just got my Shiftphone last week, put in my SIM, did a speed test and got 200Mb download an 20Mb upload on mobile network.
Sometimes it's showing 5G, sometimes LTE (4G AFAIK).

That's Netherlands not France, but I report my findings next time I'm in France in the fall.
