I've Shiftphone 8.1 with OS-L.
When will the FM Radio work? There's no app in OS-L.
I tried radio in OS-G with usb headphones connected but it didn't work. I could hear only noise.
Shift have stated that they will eventually integrate the FM Radio app in OS-L, but have not provided a timeline. As you have already noticed, FM reception will never work particularly well. Best results have been obtained with regular cable headphones connected via USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter.

Because this was discussed in detail during the crowd-funding phase in the Shift Talks and it's a 'gimmic'-feature: A passive 3.5mm jack to USB-C adapter is required.
That is not an answer. I bought it because it offered many good thing including radio. But there's no written info about how to use it.
Shift Talks - I didn't listen to those. For one I don't have that much time to see them all and also I don't speak German as well.
Don't get me wrong: I'm happy with my new phone. It's eco, I can change the battery and many other components but you need to inform your users. That's the least you can do. The info should be on your web site and not hidden somewhere in user forum.
@thor_n You always need a 3.5 mm jack for FM radios on smartphones. Since the phone 8 doesn't have one, you obviously need an adapter. Yes, it would be nice if the description mentioned that you need a passive adapter. This statement can only be found in a forum post by a Shift employee, which he published here in his spare time. Please send some feedback to support (the English page is also missing here, you can also leave feedback on that). Then it will definitely be noted. I just wanted to explain why no one at Shift thought to write this down. This FM radio with a passive adapter is just a nice gimmick (terrible sound quality) that is only intended for emergencies (power outage lasting several days, all other radios have no power).
@xany That there are hardly any passive adapters (anymore) and even the one that Shift has been producing and selling since the phone 8 is an active adapter.
You need an antenna which will always be to big to realistically fit into a smartphone. It works fine with the adapter from Shift provided there is enough other cable to act as an antenna (https://forum.shiftphones.com/threa...ste-eindrucke-und-erfahrungen.5455/post-57305). I think the passive adapter "works" better since there you have a direct contact between the headphone cable and that is the antenna. An active adapter seems to just need enough cable on the other side of the DAC.
